I’ve Been There, Done That

I’m Sid Smith, founder of Business WordSmiths, Inc. I’m a freelance writer and Internet Marketer specializing in B2B Web Copywriting and Website Promotion for professional service companies.

My background is diverse. I started as a computer programmer (remember COBOL?), and soon became a technical consultant, business developer and project manager for Hewlett-Packard’s systems integration team. Back in the days, I got my consulting and project management gigs by first selling those services.

I know what it’s like to sell multi-million dollar professional service projects, as well as delivering those services.

But here’s the twist… While at HP, I earned a Masters in Depth Psychology, and then got certified as a business coach. Why? I wanted to understand the subtleties of human nature, knowing that marketing and sales is all about people, and not technology or processes.

As an entrepreneur, I knew that the Internet would play a major role in the future of marketing. So, instead of simply learning the basics, I created a niche website, drove it to the top of the search engines for several major keyword phrases, and subsequently sold the site to focus on web and SEO copywriting.

I understand the importance of writing benefit-oriented copy that gets more qualified prospects to respond and move quickly through your sales funnel.
